After her modeling debut during Lakme Fashion Week Anushka did numerous campaigns for various brands, her campaigns to promote the brand's Silk & Shine Whisper Nathella Jewelry as well as Fiat Palio etc. Anushka Sharma alongside her modelling profession, enrolled in an acting academy and began giving auditions to films. Anushka was first seen as an actor in a film by Shah Rukh Khan opposite Anushka. Anushka Sharma took her time to prepare and did not take the test in impromptu. She was later contracted to do three movies as part of the Yash Raj Films label. In the movie, she performed the role of a young girl who was married to a middle age man (the character Shah Rukh Khan is playing). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. Anushka was in 2010's "Badmash Company" alongside Shahid Kapoor Meiyang Chang, Vir Das. The movie received mixed reviews. Anushka was also seen alongside Ranveer in the film "Band Baaja Baaraat,' where she played an Punjabi middle class girl who started her own business. The film was an unexpected success with a lot of praise. The contract of Anushka's for three films under Yash Raj Films was completed with Band Baaja Baaraat.
