Kim Delaney, an American actress, is best known for her character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series, for which she was awarded the Emmy Award. She was born as the only child to a top executive from the United Auto Workers and a homemaker Delaney was raised with four brothers. When she was a teenager, her first role as an actor was on the 1980 soap opera All My Children. Since then, Delaney has been featured in many film and television dramas. Her personal life unlike her professional has not had a happy and successful. She has also experienced two failed marriages, and has struggled with alcoholism. In 2005, the actress was denied the custody of her son.
